Hortlandia 2021 was certainly an event to remember! Not only was it held at a new venue and a different time of the year, but Oregon experienced its hottest temperatures ever recorded. Since the sale was held outside to comply with pandemic restrictions, visitors and vendors alike braved the 110+ degree heat to enjoy the incredible collection of plants and garden art on display. The Show Must Go On! The community was heartbroken that Hortlandia 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic, so with restrictions easing this year, the Hardy Plant Society was committed to making this event happen safely….
The Washington County Master Gardener™ Association has an Education Garden at PCC Rock Creek, which is where HPSO is hosting PlantFest, our annual fall plant sale and featured lecture on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Just across from where the plant sale takes place, you’ll find the Education Garden, which was transformed from a one-third acre former gravel parking lot into a beautiful garden that serves as an outdoor classroom for education on sustainable gardening practices. HPSO’s Fall PlantFest 2018, which includes a lecture followed by a plant sale, features Kelly Dodson of Far Reaches Farm as our lecture speaker. Kelly Dodson and his wife, Sue Milliken, are true plant geeks. Their specialty nursery, Far Reaches Farm, located in Port Townsend, WA is a mecca for gardeners.
